Description

2nd Annual Suicide Prevention Event

Event Details

Suicide is a national public health concern and the Department of Veterans Affairs has identified Veteran suicide as our highest clinical priority in order to reduce Veteran deaths by suicide. Suicide affects many different groups and is related to mental health, substance abuse, trauma, violence, injury and/or other acute psychosocial issues. No one organization can tackle this concern alone. “Clinical and community based-programs and services play a key role in promoting wellness, building resilience, and preventing suicidal behaviors among Veterans,” (Office of Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, 2018).

This conference is guided by the National Strategy for Preventing Veteran Suicide 2018-2028 from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This year’s conference theme is “What we know about Suicide in our most vulnerable populations.” This event will prepare mental health professionals, Psychologist, Licensed Clinical Social Workers, Advance Practice Nurses, Registered Nurses, and Licensed Practical Nurses, to provide quality and equitable services as it pertains to suicide prevention. The current level of knowledge is fundamental awareness or basic knowledge as it pertains to suicide prevention. This face to face training will ensure participants have an advance knowledge or practical application of veteran suicide prevention tools, strategies, and best practices.

This event is free and open to the public and community providers. However, you must register for the event in TMS due to limited seating.

Please join us for a meet and greet from 8:15AM to 8:30AM.
