Terra Sol Sanctuary welcomes Allison Dennis (founder of Heart of Yoga School) for an evening kirtan, with mythological and astrological stories. The Sanskrit language is full of medicine and delight--just hearing the language can be soothing. Bhakti yoga is the path of devotion and love, and kirtan, singing, is one of the main forms of this practice. It helps the mind become focused and subdues emotional storms, ultimately transforming the chords of grief, doubt and chaos in the heart to chords of love, acceptance and peace. No experience is necessary. Chant books will be provided. Coming just to listen and not sing is totally fine, though you may just change your mind--all are welcome! Allison's love of Indian music and the Sanskrit language started in 2005 when she completed 500 hours of Yoga Teacher Training at the Sivananda Ashram. Her teacher Prem Sadasivananda sparked a flame that ignited when she received a harmonium as a gift from a friend. She fumbled around with poor pronunciation until her teachers helped her realize that the magic of the mantra is in precision. Her study with K. Sridhar has taught Allison traditional Indian Music by way of the scales and the different talas (time signatures). Come experience the transformational power of vibration!
