Mother's Day is fast approaching, and many are looking to plan a special day for their moms. Fortunately, Wilmington offers a host of great things to do for newcomers to the city and seasoned veterans alike. 

There are several family activities to chose from as well as opportunities to take mom out to see the sites of the town, and we have them all here on our list of things to do with Mom on Mother's Day in Wilmington.

Mother's Day Dessert Cruise 

Wilmington Water Tours offers a special Mother's Day Dessert Cruise. There are two narrated 90-minute cruises featuring catering from Bon Appetit that leave from Downtown Wilmington at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. 

The cruise allows passengers to take in the great scenery surrounding the Cape Fear River, and tickets for the Mother's Day Dessert Cruise are $29. 

Mother's Day Family Yoga + Art

Terra Sol Sanctuary is offering the opportunity for mothers to have fun with their families this Mother's Day. The Family Yoga + Art event takes place at 11 a.m. and allows Mom and one child to participate in a yoga workshop centered around love and compassion. 

During the second part of the event, attendees will paint terra cotta pots and plant succulents in them. Family admission is $40 and includes a pot. 

Airlie Gardens

Mom is sure to love a relaxing day observing the beauty at Airlie Gardens. The historic gardens date back to 1886 and feature a lush canvas that includes azaleas, camellias, and the over 400-year-old Airlie Oak. 

Guests are able to take a self-guided tour of the 67-acre property. Airlie Gardens is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and admission is $9 for adults over 13, $3 for children four through 12, and free for kinds three and younger.

Bellamy Mansion 

Step back in history with Mom while visiting the antebellum-style Bellamy Mansion. The pre-Civil War era building has over 150 years of fascinating stories attached to it. 

People touring Bellamy Mansion will hear about the original owner, John Dillard Bellamy, and get great insight into what slavery was like during the time period. The visit includes a walk through the restored slave quarters and the property's Victorian gardens that features a 150-year-old magnolia tree.

Mother's Day Brunch

Those who want to treat Mom to a Mother's Day experience she will never forget can't go wrong with one of Wilmington's great brunch destinations. Some of the best locales are situated along the riverfront in Downtown Wilmington and feature scenic views of Cape Fear River. 

One of the standout riverfront restaurants is The George on the Riverwalk. Those interested in a fantastic boozy brunch should consider the drink menu featuring $3 mimosas and $6 Bloody Marys at Henry's
